Pitcher Gives Batter Middle Finger, Sparks Nasty Fight

Baseball pitchers have plenty of reasons to be angry. Terrible calls from the home plate umpire enrage our favorite fireballers all the time. And bat flips, well, don't even get me started on how much admiring a home run can anger the player on the mound.

Even the most heated and outraged pitchers throughout MLB history have probably never flipped off a batter. Nolan Ryan would punch your face in and take line drives off his face, but that was probably too disrespectful. Pete Rose and George Brett wouldn't dare give the bird to another player, either.

That's why seeing a youth baseball player give the middle finger to a batter is all the more shocking. It makes you wonder what parents raised a kid to do something like this.

OK, listen, I have a few things I need to get off my chest about this clip.

The first is that pitcher is throwing way too slow (that was a fastball, right?) for the batter to yell at him for beaning him in the back. So what if it's intentional. Acting like it doesn't hurt is the best revenge.

Secondly, mad respect to this pitcher for getting what he wanted. He throws up the middle finger, slams his glove and throws his hat aside. He wanted a fight and he got one.

After a big missed haymaker from the pitcher, the hitter looks to land his own. The two wrestle to the ground before a long-haired umpire who definitely enjoyed the 1970s too much enters the scene and breaks the scuffle up.

I don't know the backstory here, but these kids look to be around high school age. All sorts of crazy things happen at that level, so I guess it's not really a surprise to see some cocky teenager giving him the bird.
