Former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer's professional statistics may not jump out at you.
Despite his inconsistency, he was still able to accumulate 113 touchdowns. He even won Super Bowl XXXV with the Baltimore Ravens.
Dilfer has been active in his post-playing days, so let's take a look at what he is up to now.
Trent Dilfer at Fresno State
After excelling on the Aptos High School football team, Dilfer played in college at Fresno State. The Bulldogs' football program is not what people think of as "dominant," but they have produced several quality NFL players.
Dilfer didn't play much during his freshman year, but he was tremendous during his next two seasons. All told, his college career ended with 7,631 passing yards and 53 touchdowns.
Dilfer generated a lot of hype and declared for the 1994 NFL Draft.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers invested serious draft capital in Dilfer, taking him with the sixth-overall pick in 1994.
With the Bucs, he reached the playoffs on several occasions and even earned a Pro Bowl selection in 1997. His next two seasons in Tampa would be injury-plagued and inconsistent, so Dilfer was released.
Dilfer joined the Baltimore Ravens in 2000 as the backup quarterback to Tony Banks. Needing a boost on offense, head coach Brian Billick named Dilfer the starter halfway through the season, and the QB led the team to an incredible run that culminated in a Super Bowl victory over the New York Giants.
Despite the team's success, Dilfer was not particularly impressive, so the Ravens had no qualms about letting him go. Dilfer went on to join the Seattle Seahawks to back up Matt Hasselbeck.
Dilfer played sparingly with the Seahawks, and after one season each with the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers, he retired in 2007.

After retirement, Dilfer joined ESPN as an analyst, a position he held for nearly a decade.
Since 2019, Dilfer has been on the sidelines as the head football coach of Nashville's Lipscomb Academy. Dilfer returned to the field in large part because he wanted to make an impact on players' lives.
He lost a 5-year old son, Trevin, in 2003 and has been motivated to coach since then.
Dilfer has transformed the Mustangs from a laughingstock to one of the best teams in Tennessee.
In a wild, COVID-19 affected season, the team led by Dilfer and offensive coordinator Trenton Kirklin reached the state championship.

Dilfer also volunteers at the Elite 11 competition, which pits the country's best high school quarterbacks against each other. His athletic genes have reached his kids as well.
His daughter, Delaney, plays volleyball for Lipscomb University.
Trent Dilfer may not approach the Hall of Fame, but there is something to be said about surviving in the NFL for 14 seasons. Now, he is making an impact on the next generation of players.
