Olympic Softball Pitcher Makes Baseball Players Look Silly

Think of the softball pitchers you'd least like to face in the batter's box. I'm a lefty, so facing Cat Osterman's rise ball would be Hell on Earth. Now that I think of it, the same goes for Monica Abbott. Jennie Finch once made Albert Pujols look like a chump, so she gets a vote as well.

Danielle Lawrie would be one scary woman to go up against too. For anybody that doesn't know that name, allow me to introduce her. Lawrie twice won the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year while playing for the University of Washington Huskies, where she starred in the 2009 Women's College World Series and won a national championship.

The NCAA legend from British Columbia, Canada racked up 477 strikeouts in 315 innings in one season alone and went on to pitch for the Canada women's national softball team in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and in the National Pro Fastpitch league, where she was an All-Star for the USSSA Pride.

The 34-year-old is not only still pitching and training for the Olympics, but she's making baseball players look silly in front of their teammates.

Judging from a video Lawrie posted to Twitter, she still has plenty of juice left in the tank. The right-hander can still bring the heat, and multiple poor baseball players found that out the hard way.

Lawrie decided to face a few male hitters at a training facility in a bullpen session and showed them who was boss. With her Team Canada teammate and catcher Kaleigh Rafter behind the dish, she backed him off the plate with a heater before pulling the string on a nasty offspeed pitch.

The hitter waved at it in hilarious fashion, and his teammates loved every second of it.

"When you and your homie @KaleighRafter have some fun playing the boys...," Lawrie tweeted.

Why anyone else decided to step in is beyond me. This here is video evidence that softball is much harder than baseball. Next time a boy is considering showing up a girl at the plate, make sure it's not against a woman who once threw a freakin' no-hitter at the WCWS.

We've seen clips like these before go viral. One high school softball star struck out the entire cocky football team over a $20 bet. Time and time again, these female fireballers prove that no boy should ever face them. When will they learn?

This post was originally published on November 17, 2020 but Danielle is probably still carving up baseball players.
