Giannis Antetokounmpo's Net Worth: The Greek Freak Has a Freaky Fortune

The NBA is experiencing an international takeover. Luka Doncic gleams with crafty scoring highlighted by his signature step-back three. Nikola Jokic may be the best passing big man of all time. Kristaps Porzingis is a unicorn. Headlining the list is Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Greek Freak, who ascended to two MVPs through sheer dominance. But the Greek Freak isn't just a monster on the court, he's also a monster on the net worth rankings. That's quite the accomplishment for one of the best players in the NBA today.

Giannis Sina Ougko Antetokounmpo was born to two Nigerian Immigrants, Charles and Veronica Antetokounmpo, on December 6, 1994 in Athens, Greece. Charles and Veronica immigrated from Nigeria just three years earlier and settled in the Sepolia neighborhood of Athens. Giannis started playing basketball in 2007 and was playing professionally with Greek club Filathlitikos by 2009.

Basketball runs in the family. The power forward/small forward has two older brothers—Francis and Thanasas—and two younger brothers—Kostas and Alexis. Thanasis is a teammate on the Milwaukee Bucks, and Kostas currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers. Alexis plays overseas in Spain. In the future, it's possible we'll see some little Antetokounmpo's putting up crazy dunks, as Mariah Riddlesprigger and Giannis begin their family. A note to Giannis: Don't follow Michael Jordan's blueprint for bringing his kids into the league.

Giannis' accomplishments are growing as his career proceeds. Here are a list of what he's achieved so far:

Giannis' Awards & Accolades with Milwaukee Bucks

  • 2x NBA Most Valuable Player
  • NBA Champion (2021)
  • NBA Finals MVP (2021)
  • 6x NBA All-Star
  • 4x All-NBA First Team
  • 2x All-NBA Second Team
  • NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2020)
  • 4x NBA All-Defensive First Team
  • NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2017)
  • NBA Most Improved Player (2017)
  • NBA All-Rookie Second Team (2014)
  • Euroscar European Player of the Year (2018)

Giannis has also served as Eastern Conference captain for the NBA All-Star Game opposite LeBron James.

Despite all the individual success, the professional basketball player values winning an NBA Championship above all else. He proved his dedication in the 2021 NBA Playoffs. After getting revenge in a sweep against the Miami Heat in the first round, Giannis and the Bucks took out James Harden, Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets in the second round. Next came Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks. 6 games later, and the Bucks were in the NBA Finals for the first time since 1974.

The Phoenix Suns were all that stood between Giannis and the most prized achievement of his basketball career. And finally, Giannis would bring an NBA title back to Wisconsin in a Game 6 where he scored 50 points and secured 14 rebounds. Although Nikola Jokic was named regular season MVP, Giannis walked away with an NBA championship ring and a Final MVP award. Not a bad trade off.
